Oil Pastel. "The Hawk" presents a captivating self-portrait where the artist gracefully ascends, cradled by the taloned grip of a majestic red-tailed hawk. It embodies the profound notion of yielding to one's destined journey, boldly embracing the mystique of the unknown. In this drawing, the red-tailed hawk symbolizes inspiration and acts as the artist's spiritual guide. The metallic gold sky, reminiscent of medieval and Byzantine religious art, imbues the piece with a profound sense of spirituality. Against this backdrop, the constellations of Ursa Minor, Ursa Major, and the Southern Cross unite, merging navigational symbolism with surrealism, eloquently illustrating the interplay of destiny and celestial guidance within this evocative masterpiece. I am currently extending this piece into a series.

Works on Black Paper. Working on black paper with white pastel is a technique that resonates deeply with me, especially when crafting spiritual artworks. This distinctive approach capitalizes on the stark contrast between the dark backdrop and the radiant white pastel, producing a mesmerizing illusion of inner radiance. Rather than accentuating shadows, I concentrate on meticulously rendering the highlights, allowing the subject to appear as if it's infused with an ethereal glow. This artistic method not only imparts an air of mysticism to my creations but also instills them with profound spirituality.
